I recently bought my first printer from creality, an ender 3! It just arrived and I need to still assemble it.

While this is my first printer I have worked with a variety in the past through school clubs. I chose to go with an ender 3 because it seemed like it was the most highly recommended printer for most people starting out. I hope to get a larger printer at some point in the future but for now this is where I will start.
I don't necessarily plan on printing costumes but more plan to explore printing for prototype services as I am studying engineering.
that being said currently myself and some friends from a club at school are printing the damaged iron man helmet from endgame using the DO3D files! This part was printed on one of the club's ender 3s.

Now I'm just a beginner in 3D printing, but I like it and want to move on. I didn't even have time to look at the information before, but now thanks to phdresearchproposal.org I have much more. They help with all kinds of things and they do it very well and quickly. I am very excited that I am now able to develop my skills and get interested in new areas, especially since the university years are so intense.
Slick thread, great information. My experience with this Creality Ender 3D Printer is so good. printer's bed came severely warped. Warped enough that I could not print anything. I contacted Comgrow and they were nice enough to immediately ship me a new bed! After the new bed was installed, it printed like a dream! The only experience I've had with FDM printers is the MakerBot Replicator 4 and it was a nightmare to use. This one hasn't given me a single problem since the bed was replaced. This is my first personal 3d printer. I normally use resin-based printers at work so I'm used to high-quality prints. This printer is able to print at near resin quality if you turn the layer height to .05mm and speed to 25mm/s. I've attached a picture of my very first print (not including the test dog). Obviously, the resin is going to look better, but for a $250 FDM printer, I doubt you could find a better deal. I ended up choosing FDM over Resin due to the cost of resin. It costs around 5x to 10x more to print using resin.
Great thread! The easiest way to improve 3D print quality is to ensure the bed is leveled and nozzle distance is properly set. Most printers come with a recommended distance between bed and nozzle. A feeler gauge or a simple piece of paper can help in setting this distance.
