HI everyone.
10 weeks ago i bought the
excellent MK85 file and think its time to show my progress so far.
this was printed using:
sunlu S8 printer (for its price, its awesome)
hobbyking & giantarm PLA at layer height of mostly 0.28mm. (12kg used not including reprints)
fingers and arc reactor/lens cover printed out of resin on voxelab proxima
i wanted to keep proportions as much as possible to 100% to look right so decided to squeeze myself into the suit. im 11.5stone 5ft8 and have to strap my gut in to stay inside but no pain no gain right?
i used 3dbuilder in windows to shring the legs to match my own and to stretch the forearms to match mine
although the helmet just fits with some tweaks, i have decided that im going to reprint at 105% to allow the motors to work without rubbing on my face
i also really really wanted the thigh toppers but that limits mobility so a toss of a coin between mobility and visuals landed on looking good as this thing will be a statue for most of its life
the arc reactor and other lights are usb LED'S (cheap, easy to solder to and 5v while being super bright)
the helmet is motorized and lit using (look on ebay for batman eyes) and an arduino nano in accordance with crashworks motorization kit files found on thingiverse
the paint is as follows
spray putty (lots of it)
simonize red oxide primer
the following paint scheme is thanks to frankly built who i think anyone thinking of building any cosplay suit should look up as his videos and writeups are exceptional
rustoleum elegant gold
rustoleum metallic red
rustoleum grey sky
rustoleum automotive lacquer
its by no means perfect and my eyes are drawn to every imperfection that i know is there but for a project such as this its quite an acheivement that im proud of so far
ill add what photos and videos i can when ive finished this bad boy and do a bit more of a write up but just thought it was time to share as im taking taking it slow now to have a rest
i really thought this would take me longer than it has considering i work on it after my day job
and at weekends so am really happy with how this is going :)
left fingers will be printed by the weekend and then all i need to do is add the remaining lights, wire the relays and reed switches and as soon as the helmet is re-done try it on one last time before standing it up in wait for conventions in august/september
again, if you havent already, watch as much of franks videos as possible. truly a wealth of information
looks amazing. Which version of the suit file did you use? I noticed when I purchased This file it has, for example, (ab new *or something like that or in a separate folder called v2 screen accurate there is another ab file)? I started printing the screen accurate chest and abs and now I’m concerned that I’m not printing the right one… I can’t tell which is the newer file
bonjour a tous , magnifique travail , tu peux etres fiere !!!!!!
With the LED's have you just attached them to a USB battery pack within the armour?
Great Progress! Which helmet file did you print, the one with this suit or any other? Did you proportionally scale the helmet?
looks great so far! I am just starting mine.....its a lot of print time!
