i got my first and only 3d printing back in 2017 the Prusa MK2 i love it very much and ive upgraded the extruder to bondtech. some of the coolest filaments that ive used is nylon and stainless steel pla. so for software i use a bunch , for modeling i use solidworks and for slicing i mainly use simplify3D. i love solidworks because i went to school to be a cnc machinist and used solidworks and mastercam for most of my work. if you can get a student id or you can use their cloud service solidworks is pretty powerful and simple to use and there are a ton of youtube tutorials. https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/17-3d-printers
so the only cons to my 3d printer is the size, i really need a bigger printer if i want to do full suits of cosplay armor, the size is about 8in cubed and the current cosplay project is the Endgame Warmachine armor but all cosplay projects have been paused for Covid-19 help by printing face shields, masks and mask strap holders for donation
