Anyone use companionship services for older family members?

My aunt just moved into a new apartment across town, and since her social circle is still in her old neighborhood, she's feeling quite lonely. She's physically able but has mentioned feeling isolated, which worries me. I've heard about companionship services but don't know much about what they entail. Has anyone used these for older family members? What kind of activities do they engage in, and how do you find someone who genuinely connects with your loved one beyond just showing up?

It's great that you're looking into companionship services; addressing social isolation is so important for overall well-being. Finding a caregiver who truly connects with your aunt can make a huge difference. These types of services are specifically designed to combat loneliness by providing emotional support and social interaction. For instance, reputable agencies offer companionship care services where caregivers engage in meaningful conversation, and everyday support. This can involve playing games, reading aloud, taking walks, or simply having someone there for conversation. The goal is to help individuals feel valued, connected, and happy in their own homes, ensuring they get interaction and a listening ear.
