Is it better to optimize website performance or just upgrade your server?
I’ve recently run into an issue where my website started slowing down a lot, especially during peak traffic hours. At first, I thought it was just a hosting problem and even considered upgrading to a more expensive server plan. It made a good point that the problem is often not the server itself, but inefficient code, database queries, or overall architecture. Now I’m wondering if it makes more sense to fix the root cause instead of just throwing more resources at it. Has anyone dealt with something similar?

Yeah, that’s a pretty common situation. A lot of people jump straight to upgrading servers, but that usually just hides the real issue. I had a project where performance dropped under load, and it turned out to be poorly optimized queries and no caching at all.
After cleaning that up, the site ran much faster without changing the server. Plus, it actually reduced costs long-term. So I’d say optimization first, then scaling if needed.
