Strapping and fitting day!

Last weekend was the first time I tried to put on the MK85 suit after months of printing/strapping/sanding and a lot of procrastination :)

So how did I strap everything?

Here is an overview of the inside of my armor so far. Padding still to be added later.

The color codings show what connects where. I'm using all V2 files!

The colored squares are mounting points I installed from thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3524635/files

The beauty of these mounts is that the straps stay adjustable in lenght on the armor side by creating a pinch point. You can also easily replace straps if they wear out or break.

The yellow line shows where I plastic welded the collar and chest piece together.

The shoulders are held on by the pieces of velcro sticking out the side on the top.

I'm using a similar central system as you can see on other builds. The central system connects to the armor at the brown strap which goes over my should and connects near my chest (see next picture for reference). This central system is also what's holding up my legs.

Central strapping system with legs attached

Here you can see the central system with the legs attached in action. The legs connect in the front and in the back to prevent them from spinning on you. I'll probably do the same thing for the biceps, as they still keep falling down. (I know I'm scrawny, no time to fitness, got to build stuff :P)

Strapping was the biggest beast for me to conquer in the build and I'm superexcited that it's finally starting to come together. There is still some gaps and seams to take care of, but we're slowly getting there and overall it's sitting quite comfortably 😊

Edit: Before people start thinking I just copied this from Anton in the tutorial section, guess who his friend was :) It was a good collab, thanks my man!! :)

When everything fails: You can always go for the Baby Plastic Man cosplay 😂
